Experience Science and Sun in Barcelona

Barcelona is a city which has a little bit of everything. Sandy beaches: check. World class sporting stadiums: check. Nightlife and first class restaurants: check. The list could go on. In fact the only thing problem with Barcelona is finding the time to do everything that you want to do when you are there.

But if you are stuck for ideas, why not consider combining two totally different experiences into one trip, thus highlighting just how varied a city Barcelona really is!

Never heard of CosmoCaixa? You will once you step foot in Barcelona as this spectacular building attracts over 750,000 people every year through its doors. It is essentially a science museum, but to pigeon hole it like this would be a travesty as there is so much more to this 3000m2 museum. Inside is a reproduced area of Amazonian rainforest, with many species of plant and animals all successfully living in a habitat which is in fact thousands of miles from where it should be. You’ll also be able to find out how the world came into being in the Room of Matter. Plus there are dozens of temporary exhibits that change all the time, so there is no telling what you’ll see when you visit.

After all of that science stuff, you’ll probably want to get out and about in the famous Spanish sun, and for sun lovers there is no other city in the world like Barcelona. The city faces the world famous Mediterranean Sea and its long promenade stretches for over 4 miles, meaning you have more than enough opportunity to find a spot on the beach on which to relax. But remember there is so much happening on the beachfront that even if you are not a massive fan of sand you’ll still be able to have the time of your life. Beachfront bars, casinos, cycle paths and green spaces are all in abundance, so just pick what it is you want to do, see or experience on the seafront and have the time of your life. Sant Sebastia and Barcelonet are two of the more popular beaches so head to these if stuck for ideas.
Beaches and the CosmoCaixa are only two of the many, many attractions in Barcelona. When booking cheap holidays to spain, always consider Barcelona as it has so much to offer everyone – from young families to groups of lads to couples on a romantic break!
